When You Don’t Know Where to Start

There’s a very specific frustration that happens in business when everything feels important.
You sit down to work, ready to be productive, and suddenly your brain goes:
Update website
Write content
Fix that onboarding thing
Plan the new offer
Reply to clients
Make the next move
Oh—also remember to defrost the chicken
And before you know it, the hour you had has disappeared and somehow nothing feels done.
It’s not a motivation problem.
It’s not laziness.
It’s not even time.
It’s too many open tabs (in your mind and your business).
Why Everything Feels Urgent
Your brain is trying to hold:
The vision you have for your business
The pressure of showing up consistently
The stories about what you should be doing
The reality of your actual energy + life capacity
And those things?
Rarely match.
So instead of moving forward, your brain goes into stall mode — because it can’t see which step matters most.
Your system is trying to protect you from overwhelm.
It’s doing its job.
We just need to give it a path.
The Question That Changes Everything
Instead of asking: “What should I work on?”
Ask: “What would make things feel easier today?”
Not: what looks productive
Not: what other people are doing
Not: what you feel guilty about not doing yet
But:
→ What would remove friction?
→ What would create relief?
→ What would give me a bit more space to breathe?
Because ease = momentum.
And when your system feels safe enough to take one step, it will take the next one too.
Your First-Next-Step Method (Try This Today)
Write everything down.
Not to do it — but to get it out of your mind and onto something that can hold it for you.
Circle the thing that would give you the biggest exhale if it were sorted.
Not the thing that’s the most urgent.
The thing that’s the heaviest.
Do a small version of it.
Send the email, draft the caption, map the idea in 5 bullet points, start the doc, ask for the info, book the thing.
The goal is movement, not completion.
Tiny shifts change everything.
And If Your Brain Still Feels Foggy…
That’s your signal that you’ve reached your capacity for doing this alone.
You don’t need a 6-month program.
You don’t need to overhaul your business.
You don’t need more time.
You just need someone to sit in the swirl with you
and help you see the next clear step.
That’s exactly what my Coffee + Coaching sessions are for.
30–45 minutes
One conversation
One clear plan
And the mental load drops immediately.
No pressure.
No pushing.
Just relief + direction you can act on with the time you already have.
If you’re reading this thinking:
“That would make my life so much easier…”
It’s your time.
